In Japan, there are lots of large summer festivals that attract visitors from out of town.

日本には、観光客もたくさん来る、大きな夏祭りがたくさんあります

Aomori’s Nebuta Matsuri, Sendai’s Tanabata Matsuri and Akita Kantou are known as Japan’s 3 largest festivals and they attract visitors from all over.

青森ねぶたまつり、仙台七夕まつり、秋田竿燈（あきたかんとう）まつりは日本三大まつりと呼ばれ、観光客もたくさん来る、大きなお祭りです

At Nebuta Matsuri, large fancy warrior dolls are placed upon floats and everyone marches through the city chanting.

ねぶた祭りでは、巨大で豪華な武者人形が上に載った山車を、掛け声をかけながらみんなで引いて、町を歩きます

The design of the dolls varies for each city where the festival is held.

At the Akita Kantou Festival, lanterns are hung from 12 metre long bamboo poles, and you can see acrobatics.
