気温にまつわる表現

I wonder if it’s going to get colder today.

今日は寒くなるのかな？

➡ほかにもchilly「肌寒い」と言い換えることができます。またhotter「暑くなる」、warmer「暖かくなる」と気温に応じて言い換えることもできます

It’s going to be muggy tonight.

今晩は熱帯夜みたいよ

It’s over 30 degrees.

気温は30度以上あります

➡temperature「気温」と言い換えることもできます。ちなみに、日本やカナダでは摂氏degreeを使いますが、アメリカでは華氏ferenheitを使うので注意して覚えておきましょう

It’s below freezing today.

今日は氷点下です

Even though it’s warm during the day, but it gets chilly in the morning and evening.

➡AC-Air Conditioning「エアコン」。日本の場合、暖房機能もエアコンについていますが、欧米ではＡＣは室内の気温を下げる機能のみで、暖房のことはheaterと言うので注意しましょう。

➡ほかにも、 Beautiful weather we’re having.や、This is wonderful weather.などの言い回しもできます

➡ 日傘が一般的でない国では、some shade「日よけ」と言いまわしを変えれば、他のものを代用したい時にも使えます

➡ちなみに「日陰」はin the shadeと言います
