アメリカのバレンタインデー？

In Japan, women give chocolate to men on Valentines day.

But I think this is because the chocolate companies a western holiday into this Japanese tradition.

女性が男性にチョコレートをあげると言うのが日本のバレンタイン

しかし、私はそれはきっとチョコレート会社が作り上げた日本だけの習慣だと思っています

Valentine's Day around the world, is when men and women (and boys and girls) show their love and feelings with each other.

Men, women, and families, altogether celebrate friendship and love this day.

世界中のバレンタインは、男女お互いに愛を確かめ合うと言う感じで

男性から、女性から、また家族からなど、みんながお互いの友情や愛情についてお祝いし合うのが普通です

One day on Valentine's Day, a delivery man came to our door with flowers,

MY husband usually does not send flowers, so I was very happy, but. . . .

ある日のバレンタインに花を持った宅急便がやって来ました

旦那は普段は花なんて贈らないのでめちゃくちゃ喜んだのですが……

The delivery was for our neighbor, and they were not home, and I was asked to hold them for her.

Oh Well . . .

それは、お隣が留守なのでお隣さんの花束を預かって欲しいというお願いでした

やっぱりな……

お店の売り物もバレンタイン用！

As Valentine's Day approaches,  every store arranges candy and chocolate on their shelves.

バレンタインが近づくと、どこのお店もこのようにキャンディやチョコレートなどが棚に並びます

These shelves are specifically for children's valentines cards.

When my children were young, if they wanted to give a Valentine to someone in the class, they were asked to give a card to everybody.  The class list was sent out before Valentine's Day to the parents.

The children would write Happy Valentine on the cards, sometimes add a small candy, or something, or just the card.  The school wanted to make sure that everybody got something.

The fact that there is a special area for children's cards.

I wonder that even now, when a child gives a card, do they should give one to everybody?  I think so.

ここの棚は子ども達のカード専門のコーナーです

子ども達が小さい頃はバレンタインにクラスの子に何か渡す場合は全員に渡すように！　とクラスの名簿がバレンタインの前に配られていました

そして子ども達はカードにハッピーバレンタイン！　などと書いて小さなキャンディを入れたり、カードだけだったりして誰ひとりとして何ももらえない子が出ないようにしていました。

このように子ども向けのカード専門コーナーがあるということは今でもクラスに渡すときは全員に渡すようにしているのでしょうね

Here are some cards for the children. 

Each pack contains about 32 cards per pack, so even for the whole class, you don't have to spend a lot of money.

When my kids were in the lower years of elementary school, an envelope might have one small piece of candy,

But most of the kids give out cards, my children would receive a lot of candy every year.

これはその子ども向けのカードと便せんですが、１パックに32 枚くらいずつ入っているので、クラス全員であっても高いお金を出す必要が無くてすみます

子ども達が小学生低学年の頃は、小さな便せんにキャンディがひとつ入ったりしても多くの子ども達が配るので、毎年結構な数をもらっていました
