先日、『CANADA POSTS（カナダ郵便局）』がクリスマスに行っているサービス「Letters to Santa Claus（サンタクロースへのお手紙）」で、サンタ宛に手紙を出したのを覚えていますか？（そんな記事知らないという人はコチラをチェック！→「 サンタクロースから返事が届く!?カナダ郵便局公認のサンタの住所とは」） なんと、返事が届きました！　しかも、12月24日の夜に!!　というわけで、さっそく開封。届いた手紙を公開しちゃいます！

Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any better, Mrs.Claus hand-delivered your wonderful letter.
Mrs.Clausが君の素晴らしい手紙を手渡してくれて、こんなにいい日はないと思っていたところだよ。

One of our favourite games to play here at the North Pole is the Amazing Snow-Maze Race.
北極での僕たちのお気に入りのゲームのひとつに、Snow-Maze（雪でできた迷路）のレースがあるんだ。

The elves spent a lot of time building this maze and it’s so much fun.
エルフ達が時間をかけてこの迷路を作るんだ、とってもおもしろいよ。

We have been scrambling this week because a blizzard covered the front doors to one of the workshop and kept us out for two full days.
今週は吹雪で僕たちの仕事場のひとつのドアが雪をかぶっちゃって、丸2日中に入れなくて、大慌てだったんだよ。

And believe me, those elves can make A LOT of toys in two days, so we’ve got some catching up to do!
そこにいるエルフ達は、2日でいーっぱいのおもちゃをつくれるから、なんとか追いつかせないと！

Don’t worry, though. 
でも心配しないで

Everything will be on schedule for the Big Day.
すべてはクリスマス当日のために順調に進んでいるよ。

Max, an elf who works as our head chef, is cooking up a huge pot of candy cane gumbo for dinner tonight.
マックスは料理長のエルフなんだけど、今日のディナーのためにでっかいCandy Cane Gumbo（キャンディのスープ）を煮込んでいるよ。

The delicious smell is starting to fill the air now.
おいしそうな匂いでいっぱいさ。

We only have this meal once year, so everybody is very excited.
僕たちはこれを年に１回だけ食べられるんだ、だからみんな大興奮だよ。

I expect to see lots of full tummies and napping elves and reindeer around the fireplace tonight!
今夜はたくさんのふくらんだお腹と眠ってしまったエルフ達を暖炉で見られるんだろうな。

I have time for a few more hours of toy-making before dinner starts, so I should get back to the workshop.
ディナーまでもう少しだけおもちゃをつくる時間があるから、仕事場に戻らなきゃ。

But maybe I will enjoy a chocolate chip cookie or two first!
だけど、チョコチップクッキーを１、２枚楽しんでからかな。

They’re my favorite cookie（for now…）, it seems!
僕のお気に入りのクッキーなんだ（今はね…）、うんおいしい！

During my grand adventure on Christmas Eve I will place above your home a cloud made of peace and love with a wish that the year 2014 will be filled with love and surprises.
このクリスマスイブの冒険の間、2014年が愛と驚きで満ち溢れるように、僕は君の家の上に平和と愛と希望でできた雲をおいていくよ。

Thank you!　I am a volunteer elf and I try to remember my Christmas from the past.
ありがとう！　僕はボランティアのエルフで、僕の過去のクリスマスを思い出しているよ。

Still never forget I tell the children that santa is a magical spirit.
今でも忘れられないのは、サンタは奇跡の精霊なんだよって子供達に伝えたことだ。 

He never ages.
彼は年をとらない。
