前回に引き続き、映画『LIFE !』のプロモーションで来日されたベン・スティラーの舞台挨拶をご紹介。今回は、Cheer up! Englishの読者向けに、英語のコメントを原文で掲載します。ハリウッドスターが壇上でどのように語ったのかを読んで、スピーチなどに活用してください。

司会：まずはベンさんからひとことご挨拶をお願いできますでしょうか？

Ben：First of all thank you very much !
And I am very excited for you to see the movie, the movie has been a personal journey for me making it, and I hope that you can connect with it, and it entertains you and you feel something and hopefully it inspire you in some way.

訳：まずは、すべての皆さんに感謝をささげたいと思います。この作品は僕にとっても、まるで一人旅をしたような、思い入れの強い作品なんです。ですから、今日はみなさんにご覧いただけることを、とてもうれしく思っています。そして、この映画を観て楽しんでいただき、何かを感じとったり、インスパイアされたりしていただければ、とてもうれしいです

司会：この映画で何を伝えたかったんでしょうか？

Ben：The movie is a story of a man who has a lot of potentials.
A man who isn't really known by the rest of the world. He goes about his job, he works everybody , he works very hard, He's very good at what he does , but nobody really notices him or recogizes him, he lives in his head.
And he has all of these amazing fantasies and ideas in his head of who he wants to be, and in the course of the movies he takes a chance and goes out into the world and he stars to make his dreams a reality.
And I would hope that the movie can be inspiring in that way, where people will see the movie and would want to act on their dreams and take a chance in life.

訳：この映画は、いろいろなポテンシャルをもっているんだけど誰にも認められず見向きもされない、しかし毎日真面目に働いている男性の話です。彼は、誰にも見向きもされないから『こんな人間になりたいなぁ』と空想しています。その彼が、ある日チャンスに賭けようと思って自分の人生を変えていく、そして思い描いていた夢を現実に変えていく物語です。だからこの映画を観て、自分が『こうなりたい』と思っているみなさんも彼にインスパイアされて『ちょっとやってみようかな』と思っていただければ幸いです。

岡村：ベンさんは、すごくいい人なんですよ。

Ben : I feel very fortunate to be working with OKAMOTO San on this film.

訳：僕こそ岡村さんとこの映画に携われることになって、とても幸運だったと思っています。

岡村：僕もハリウッドスターになりたいんですが。

Ben : Ah ! Hollywood star !
I like that, You and me together !
Funny movies, Japanese, American buddy Comedy.
Police man, "Beverly Hills cop 5".
I promise definitely , very excited.

訳：いいですね。二人で映画スターになりましょう！　日本人とアメリカ人のバディ映画はいかがでしょう。ポリスマンはどうですか？　『ビバリーヒルズコップ５』とか。 私も興奮してきましたし、約束しますよ！

Ben : And I have a question to ask for OKAMOTO San.
Right now I am in the middle of filming "night of the museum 3" And I Would be extremely honored if OKAMOTO San voiced my part when it comes to Japan.

訳:僕から岡村さんに質問があるんだけど、よろしいですか？　今『ナイトミュージアム３』の撮影中なんです。ぜひ、この『ナイトミュージアム３』も僕のパートの声優をやってくれると、とても光栄なんですけど。

岡村:はい！

Ben : YES? Alright that's wonderful !

訳：いいの？　それは素晴らしいね。

岡村:日本で妖怪の役をやったことあるんだけど、『ナイトミュージアム３』に妖怪の役で出られませんか？

Ben : Possibly.
We are filming right now in Vancouver, ｓo you have to come back with me to Vancouver right now.
You Can Stay at my house.

訳：可能かもしれませんね。バンクーバーで撮影しているんですよ。明日一緒に来てくれますか？　僕の家に泊まっていいですから。

岡村:明日ですか？

Ben : Yes! We can go back tomorrow.

訳:一緒に行きましょうよ、明日。

Ben : What have you got going on here ?

訳:明日何か用事ありますか？

岡村:どんどん仕事が決まっていきますけど。

Ben : Very excited.

訳:とても嬉しいです。

司会:それでは会場のファンからの質問を。

ファン:岡村さんが主人公の声優をやることをどう思いますか？

Ben : I was very excited, for OKAMOTO San to do the voice, because I know he's a very funny man, and I was hoping that he can take his funniness and instill it into me, and make me, and make me funnier.

訳:大変おもしろい方だとうかがっていたので、彼の声で僕の演技を更におもしろくしてくれればと期待しています。

司会:さきほどの『ナイトミュージアム３』のオファーの話は本当ですか？

Ben : YES, very serious. If we can make a deal.
We need to negotiate a deal, cause I know he's a lot of money..
I think you need a new agent.

訳:本当ですが、スタジオのほうと交渉してもらわないといけないですね。たぶんギャラも高いと思いますので。新しいエージェントが必要ですね。

岡村:NO! NO! イチマンニセンエン。

Ben : Yes? I would be very happy to do that.

訳:いいんですか？　僕もうれしいですよ。

Ben : Just, thank you very much for coming tonight.
