花火大会を説明してみよう

There are many Japanese summer festivals focused exclusively on fireworks.

日本では、夏に花火だけを楽しむ花火大会があります

In Tokyo, the Sumida River and Tokyo Bay fireworks festivals are famous.

東京では隅田川花火大会や、東京湾花火大会が有名です

Lots of people attend, so the stations are always crowded.

とても多くの人が来るので、駅は大混雑です

There are both free and paid viewing locations.

有料と無料の見学会場などがあります

You can see not only regular fireworks, but also heart or anime character shaped designs!

普通の花火はもちろんですが、ハート型やアニメのキャラクターのものもあります！

There are different fireworks depending on the area of Japan.

各地域によっていろいろな花火があります

Some festivals launch fireworks from a boat over the water, and there are special “Niagara” fireworks resembling waterfalls.

海沿いでは普通の花火に加えて、滝のように見せる「ナイアガラ」などもあります

There’s a special type of firework called “tezutsu hanabi”.

特徴的なのは、手筒花火と呼ばれるものです

Tezutsu hanabi are cylindrical tubes held up in both bands that continually shoot fireworks.

手筒花火は、筒状になった大きな花火を両手で抱え、その間花火が出続けるものです

They are used in groups of 4-5 people, and it’s a powerful way to enjoy fireworks.

４～５人同時に行うので、華やかさと言うより、迫力があります
