The custom of exchanging Shochu-Mimai cards has developed instead of sending gifts since Japanese postal service had improved.

Shochu-Mimai cards are exchanged from mid-July to 6^th August, which is the first day of autumn on the traditional Japanese calendar.

The summer greeting cards being sent after that time is called Zansho-Mimai.

暑中見舞いを出す時期は７月中旬から８月６日頃、立秋までです

それ以降に出すハガキは、残暑見舞いと呼ばれます
