9/1は防災の日（ National Disaster Prevention Day）です。
防災の日は1923年の9/1に起こった関東大震災にちなんで防災の日が制定され、各地で防災訓練が行われます。

日本に居住する外国人の一番の不安が、地震などの日本での災害経験だといいます。特に、日本での防災訓練の経験がなく、日本語が分からない外国人にとっては、災害時にどのような行動をとっていいか分かりません。彼らのためにも万が一の時に外国人を誘導できる英語フレーズは知っておきたいものです。

今回は防災の日にちなんで、「日本と災害を説明する」「災害時に備えたい知識」「災害時に外国人を英語で誘導」の３つのフレーズを紹介します。いざという時のためにブックマーク、もしくは印刷をして防災用品の中に忍ばせておきましょう。

●日本と災害（Japan and natural disasters）

日本は地震大国です

Japan is a land of earthquakes.

世界で起こる地震の10％が日本で発生しています

10 % of the earthquakes happening around the world strikes Japan.

日本は「ユーラシアプレート」「北アメリカプレート」「太平洋プレート」「フィリピン海プレート」という、4枚のプレートが複雑に入り組んでるため、地震が多く発生します

There are a lot of earthquakes here because beneath Japan, there are four different plates (Eurasian Plate, North American Plate, Pacific Plate, and Philippine Sea Plate) jammed.

2011年3月11日にはマグニチュード9.0の東日本大震災が起こりました

The Great Tohoku Earthquake, which recorded magnitude of 9.0, stroke on March 11th, 2011.

●地震に備えて （Be prepared for earthquakes）

家具やテレビ、パソコンなどを固定し、転倒・落下・移動防止措置をしておく

Make sure that furniture, TVs, and desktop computers are kept safe so that they will not drop, fall or move.

ガラスに、ガラス飛散防止フィルムを貼りましょう

Put anti-scattering film on glass.

外出中に家族が帰宅困難になったり、 離れ離れになった場合の安否確認の方法や集合場所を決めておきましょう

Decide in advance how to confirm safety and where to meet with your family in case your family members cannot go back home or set apart.

家族で避難場所や避難経路を確認しておきましょう

Talk with your family about evacuation centers and evacuation routes.

非常用品をまくらもとにおいておきましょう

Put emergency supplies on your bedside.

防災に関する情報を収集し、知識を身につけておきましょう

Collect information about disaster prevention and keep them in mind.
