Today Fushimi-ko-Kyoto-Teishajo-sen, Kyoto Fudo 115 Go (Kyoto Prefectural Road 115) (with the section from Takeda-kaido Jujo-dori to Fukakusa-kagayashiki-cho overlapping with the National Highway Route No. 24) is called Takeda-kaido Road.
During modern times, in 1933 the Old Keihan-kokudo National Road (Kyoto-Moriguchi-sen, Kyoto Fudo 13 Go and Osaka Fudo 13 Go (Kyoto/Osaka Prefectural Road 13)), which ran parallel to the Toba-kaido Road, was completed, and itturned into aprimaryhighwaybetween Kyoto and Osaka.
In the northit is connected to Kawabata-dori Street at Shiokojibashi-higashizume (the eastfoot of Shiokoji-bashi Bridge), and in the southit crosses National Highway Route No. 24 and is connected to Kyomachi-dori Street (Fushimi) indowntown Fushimi.
In the northit starts from Gojo-dori Street; while from the southit continues as Sujikaibashi-dori Street in Fushimi Ward and then connects to National Highway Route No. 24.
The roadcontinuing to Shuzan and Wakasa served asahighway toward Shuzan until the opening of the Shuzan kaido (Current National Highway Route No. 162).
At present, Shibutani kaido is connected to National Route 1at Higashiyama Tunnel, but Jindo Tunnel which is locatedon the northside of Higashiyama Tunnel used to beatunnel for Shibutani kaido (Kazando).
