The museumpreserves and displays Kodai-ji Temple's numerousworks of art including furnishings, paintings and books inaddition to portraits of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI and Kita no Mandokoro.
The size of the precincts was decreasedinsize when Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI constructed the Fushimi Kaido road, and its scalegradually declined over the years.
In 1594, the Sokujo-in Temple in Fushimi was forciblyrelocated to Okamedani (Fukakusa Okamedani, Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City) inorder to makeway for the construction of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI's Fushimi-jo Castle.
When Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI and Mitsuhide AKECHI fought at the Battle of Yamazaki on Mt. Tenno in 1582, Hoshaku-ji Temple served as Hideyoshi's headquarters.
