It seems that Masamune planned to organize allied forces of territorial lords of Oshu led by Date clan, and then the forces would cooperate with Gohojo clan, while he also anticipated and waited for the rise of seditious groups within the Toyotomi administration such as Ieyasu TOKUGAWA.

After Naoie's death, Nobunaga ordered the incorporation of the Ukita army into Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI's expeditionary force, and together they travelled to Chugoku district to help Hideyoshi's attack on Takamatsu-jo Castle (Bicchu Province).

He took part in the wars for Hideyoshi's campaign to suppress the whole of Japan as a chief vassal of the Toyotomi family, and he was given Kaga and Ecchu Provinces and set the foundation of the so-called Kaga Hyaku-man koku (the Kaga domain with one million koku [about five million bushels] of rice produced annually).

In September, when Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI invaded Ecchu Province taking a large force of 100,000 men with Toshiie working as a leading guide there, Narimasa surrendered, so that Toshiie's legitimate child Toshinaga MAEDA had three counties of Tonami, Imizu and Nei added in Ecchu Province, with the result that they became a great daimyo who owned three provinces governed by a father and a son.

Iemitsu TOKUGAWA, the third Shogun of the Edo Bakufu (a Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun) and Hideyori TOYOTOMI were her grandchildren, and Emperor Meisho was her great-granddaughter.

When Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI launched the Chugoku Conquest under the order of Nobunaga ODA, he served as a vassal for Hideyoshi and joined the attack on the Mori clan.

He became a vassal around the time when Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI unified the country, and in the Battle of Sekigahara, he joined the Western army, and lost.

In the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, he belonged to the West squad and joined the battle in Fushimi-jo Castle as the captain of the gun unit of the TOYOTOMI family.

After the Honnoji Incident, Sadamasa served Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI as umamawarishu (horse guard) with his foster father, and it is said that he took over the family estate after taking a part in the campaign of Odawara no eki (the Siege of Odawara.)

The temple was later relocated to numerous sites within Kyoto City by Ashikaga Shogunate family and Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI before being reconstructed on its current site in 1693.

Also, there are those who say that Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI was not able to become Seii Taishogun because he lost to Ieyasu TOKUGAWA in the battles of Komaki and Nagakute.

When the Toyotomi family began to lose their power after the death of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI followed by the defeat of the West in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Hisanaga TSUCHIMIKADO received a chigyo (enfeoffment) totaling 177 koku 6 to including Kaide Village and Terado Village in Otokuni District, Umenokoji Village and Saiin Village in Kadono District and Kisshoin Village in Kii District of Yamashiro Province from Ieyasu TOKUGAWA and returned to the Imperial Court.

After the death of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI, Ieyasu TOKUGAWA who won The Battle of Sekigahara was appointed as seii taishogun and established Edo bakufu, however, the post "vice shogun" was not placed, therefore, no one was appointed as vice shogun in Edo period.

Tsuchida Family served this hereditary post from the time of FUJIWARA no Yoritsune, the 4th Shogun of the Kamakura bakufu, and had been in service also of the Ashikaga Shogun family, Nobunaga ODA and Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI.
