After that, Hideyoshi and Hideyori simply called themselves TOYOTOMI no Ason Hideyoshi and TOYOTOMI no Ason Hideyori, and the family name, HASHIBA, continued to beusedas the title for daimyo of their vassals during the Toyotomi regime.
After the death of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI, it participated in the Eastern Camp under the command of Ieyasu TOKUGAWA, but was driven into anawkwardposition when attacked by Kagekatsu UESUGI of the Western Camp.
Yoshiaki was forced to present his daughter Komahime to Kanpaku (chiefadviser to the Emperor) Hidetsugu TOYOTOMI asa concubine, but she and Hidetsugu were killed by Hideyoshi.
(On this occasion, Yorinari is said to havehandedover the statusas the mainbranch of the family to the Edosaki-Toki clan, however, the Edosaki-Toki clanalsolost its territories at Odawara no Jin (The Siege of Odawara) by Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI, and was destroyed.
However, in the sameyear (1582) Nobunaga was killed in the Honnoji Incident, and Magoichi, wholost his backing, fled from Saiga, seekingrefuge with Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI.
Including Magoichi, severalnamescappedby the surname 'Suzuki,' arefoundas heads of the artillery of the Toyotomi clan which served in the series of battles in which Hideyoshi took place, from the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute to the Bunroku-Keicho War.
